According to the US Federal Gazette, on September 9, 2019, the US Environmental Protection Agency issued document 2019-19397, exempting C10-C16 alkylbenzene sulfonic acid (Alkylbenzene Sulfonates) residue limits.
It is understood that this waiver application was submitted by Exponent, Inc. on behalf of Ecolab, Inc. in accordance with the requirements of the US Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. C10-C16 alkylbenzenesulfonic acid includes dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (dodecyl) and dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (dodecyl-, sodium salt). When these substances are used as active or inert ingredients in antimicrobial pesticide formulations in food-contact public eating places, dairy processing equipment, food processing equipment and appliances, their maximum concentration does not exceed 700 ppm.
The regulation came into effect on September 9, 2019. Objections and hearing requests must be submitted on or before November 8, 2019.
