Dominica government announces exemption from import duties and value-added tax on electric vehicles from October 1, 2019

\"Dominica News Online\" reported on August 1, 2019 that Prime Minister Skerritt stated in the \"Notes on the Budget for the 2019-20 Fiscal Year\" submitted to the Parliament on July 30 that Dominica was built to promote The goal of the world’s first country to adapt to climate change, many governments have decided to import tariffs and more environmentally friendly electric vehicles (including electric passenger cars, electric vehicles and electric motorcycles) from October 1, 2019. The value-added tax is reduced to zero to encourage residents to change the way vehicles are used.

Skerritt said the policy would encourage investment in charging stations and related maintenance services.

Skerritt also announced that from October 1 this year, 21-29 seat passenger cars within five years of age will be exempted from import duties and consumption taxes, focusing on promoting investment and development of the cruise tourism industry.
